What is the Miss Whatcom County Scholarship Program?
It is a scholarship program that is centered by a competition for young women to earn scholarship dollars for higher education. The young women showcase their talents, leadership skills and involvement in community service. Each participant chooses a philanthropy project as their "Platform Issue" to promote and develop if chosen as Miss Whatcom County.
The Miss Whatcom county Scholarship program provides in-depth training and experience in developing leadership and interview skills. She will also receive extensive training in developing her choice of talent, along with personal grooming, poise and wardrobe consultation. It provides opportunities for young women to acquire skills to better equip them for future opportunities.
The Role of Miss Whatcom County
Miss Whatcom will enjoy an exciting and a busy year of appearances and engagements. She will meet and interact with city and state officials, community leaders, and a myriad of caring and giving volunteers who serve Whatcom County in a diligent and dedicated manner.
The candidate selected for the responsibility of serving as Miss Whatcom must be available to serve as the official hostess of Whatcom County for her year of service. She will also compete in the Miss Washington Scholarship Pageant in June. As the Miss Whatcom Scholarship Program supports education, every effort will be made to accommodate her school schedule.
