Dear Potential Contestant;
How would you like the chance to earn scholarship dollars, showcase your talent, learn interview skills, serve your community, have fun and make new friends!! This years Miss Whatcom County, Chandler Batiste, has earned $4300 by participating in our program, competed for Miss Washington, where she was named 1st runner up; and competed in the National Sweetheart Pageant. Chandler is active in her platform, makes numerous appearances, and has travelled throughout the state of Washington.
The Miss America program is the largest provider of scholarships for young women, with over $45 million dollars given away annually. In 2009, we awarded $5200 in scholarships to our contestants; each contestant received a minimum of $200 just for participating!! How can you become involved?
Please fill out the application, call or email the local director, and schedule an audition for Sunday, Nov 8th between 12 and 5 pm. Other times available by appointment. Please bring the application to the audition; and also a CD (or tape) that you can do a talent presentation to. It does not have to be what you would do for the pageant, we have a talent director to work with you. Come dressed as for a job interview (that is what this is) do not bring family or friends. Be prepared to talk about yourself, your goals, a community service project that you would like to do or are already involved in. Each audition lasts about 20 minutes. You will be informed within a week if you are a contestant. We have weekly rehearsals where our committee will help you with talent, interview, wardrobe etc. Our pageant is Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Whatcom Community College.
Thank you for your interest. Please feel free to call or email me with any questions.
Carol Starcher, Executive Director
